Earn Free Lindens - Relay For Life 2007

Today, July 28 is the Annual SL Relay For Life. A 24 hrs walkathon on a big part of the grid, for survivors of cancer, their family , friends and basically everyone who cares.

So since that I, Chino Yray or Chino Yalin (SL name), have been earning free lindens for a month now, there's no reason for me not to give part of what I earn for good cause. Of course, it is only made possible because of earning L$1000 linden dollars a day and earning more than L$10,000 linden dollars per month. 

I found recently in this Fashion blog I frequent that two of Cynara's favorite designers will be designing limited edition outfits for SLRFL'07 (Sold only on this day) and as a donation and also as a gift for my darling, I bought her Mara in Champagne (image on left). This gift is also a surprise for her since I'm the one using her avatar when I took this shot.

Nicky Ree's Mara in Champagne is really fabulous and I bet my darling will love it.

Shai Delacroix made an outfit for men as well but with the lace, color and that "feature-in-the-back-of-the-outfit", I decided I will just donate the money directly to SLRFL on their sim. No offense to Shai but I want something I can wear on different occassions. Peace! :)

I was hoping that SL-Men will feature other outfit that I can buy that will be also for SLRFL but unfortunately, Ben Vanguard seems to be more focused on featuring other men stuff.

Wicked Blog Contest Update: Contact page problem and solution.

Two days ago, I launched the L$5000 linden dollar blog contest and I want to give thanks to those who submitted their entries. However, there are people who were not able to send me an email. This is for the reason that my contact page doesn't work well with IE7.

So how to know that you sent me a successful email?

After you fill up the information and hit the "send message", a successful contact will prompt the message

"Thank you for sending me a message. I will get back to you as soon as possible."

As for the IE7 problem, please get firefox for better browsing.

Earning more linden dollars = good looking avatar.

After playing Second Life for 4 months now (I started April 1, 2007) it is not hard to understand that in order to enjoy this virtual world or to look good at least, you must have Linden Dollars. We all know it's not easy to earn linden dollars. Well, that is only if you don't know where to get them or where you can earn. I researched and look for networks, sims, offerings for free lindens and now that it's paying the bills (yes, free linden dollars all over SL can be a career! DUH! LOL). Thus, the list where you can earn linden dollars.

So looking good in SL is not easy and not just something anyone can do (unless you have all the money you can spend for clothes and stuff). I even found an SL public drama where those not-so-lucky avatars release their frustrations for not being "good-looking-enough".

What I would like to show is, how free lindens change the way my avatar looks from newbie to model.

This very first pic on the left was taken some time in April or May 2007. I thought back then that having a good hair and presentable outfit is enough to look good. I got my money to buy those stuff from camping, creating an extra female avatar for escort service (AH HA! Isn't it obvious? There might be escorts out there that are male RL. mwahaha) Yes, I did even created a female account just to make money in Second Life.

So this is how I look before. Even though there are already some who thought I'm cute, it's just because of how Cynara (my girlfriend RL) molded my shape. Thanks to her, I don't look a little newbie back then. Also, she's the one working that time and I'm just a bum avatar. LOL

The next picture below is how I look right now (taken yesterday and earlier) and it's because of earning free linden dollars everyday.

The picture on the left was taken yesterday. No photoshop processing except for the name Chino Yalin and I'm not pulling your leg. This shot was taken using a Photosphere, a studio that you can buy in SL for L$1500 and it only has 10 prims.

What I'm wearing here is the "Philanderer" outfit and leather bracelet by Ginny Talamasca - Last Call and again, my hair is called Rumor by FNKY! and my skin is the very common Antonio skin, FNKY too. I received emails asking where I got my shape, but unfortunately, this shape is made by Cynara Cortes and my wife is not selling it. I won't sell it either. (the reason why most of the time, I'm the one using her Avatar and her using Chino Yalin.)

The pose I used here is from Happy Delight. It's just L$15 which is very cheap for such a fun pose.

Last but not the least, is how I look today! After earning L$2100 today, I bought a headset, a new glasses and a high fashion outfit for men from Paper Couture.

In this picture, the only photoshop edit I did is the "render light" filter, to give a shadow on that lower right corner, and of course, the Chino Yalin name.

You see, I cannot look this good without Linden Dollars. That's a FACT in our Second Life. No money = nothing to buy. Nothing to buy = you look newbie. And we all know that no one wants to have sex with a noob!

At first I thought it was just L$20 because of the image prim they have at their lobby. Market Truths offers more than that though. They will pay you L$250 linden dollars just by joining plus they will pay you more when you do answer some survey for them.

The initial L$250 is good. However, I don't know how much they pay per research they give out unlike First Opinions Panel that gives a sure L$500 to L$1000 linden dollars per survey. What I'm very sure is, they give an instant L$250 for just joining their research panel!

Their site also gives a brief and suffice description on what they do but I recommend visiting it from the "join" button that you will find on their lobby. The company that enables Second Life players to earn linden dollars through survey invited me last night to attend a meeting with a representative from a BIG company (company name cannot be disclosed yet). This company wants their business to have a presence in the virtual world and they tied up with FOP for a research to know if they can expand from RL to SL and enable more interactivity for their business.

Faces of Asia, too late for me to be in the Second Life contest.

A group of well known SL designers is seeking avatars with an Asian appearance that look good, even gorgeous, to walk the runway and appear in promotional advertisements.

Faces of Asia... aah the fame and fortune that you will get for just being a good looking asian avatar. However, this contest, calling asian looking hotties is something that I cannot be part of anymore nor even try my luck for it. It's because the submission for entries closed last month, June 27, and I only found out about the contest last wednesday (too bad for me). That's a chance to earn L$10,000 linden dollars!

I could've been the 4th Filipino to be joining the contest, if ever. (LOL, I wish!) I heard that popular Sylar Boyd, one of the popular Filipino in Second Life, is in the contest. Our friend Rodion of Avatrian Central in Second Life, who's also a Filipino living in Cebu city told me there are 3, so I wonder who the other two are.

In addition, I think Filipinos will conquer SL as well. mwahahaha! Anyway, on the left is a picture of me. Taken from a self-made studio in our house. The outfit is 'Adulterer' from Casa Del Shai, gloves and bracelet are from Last Call (they're not available anymore), I'm wearing a black shoes from Shiny Things but it's not shown in the picture.

After earning free lindens, it's just common sense that you have to spend money or put it somewhere where you can earn more. For now, let's just say you'll be spending your free linden dollars.

Weeks ago, Cynara and I received an invitation for a Grand Ball Opening of Kidd Island. To our surprise, it will be a masquerade ball. So we have lots of problem! 1 is to get formal clothes that will fit for the medieval period and celtic. 2nd, we should have our own masks from Illusions (a mask store). 3rd we lack funds to look so good.

We filled up offers that gives free lindens so we can raise the money. Thanks to earn2life, we got ourselves a mask for the two of us. However, the mask is not enough, we still need good clothes. We wander and searched for the high quality and clothes with better textures rather than just settling for something that just looks good. Cynara advised me, "better and high quality textures first." Not bad actually, thinking I got myself a Dhampir Rider outfit from B@REROSE and Cynara got a good dress namely "Josephine" by Ginny Talamasca, Last Call.

After getting a mask and a costume, we searched for good hair, luckily the hair that will fit the theme and will look good on me can also be found at Illusions. There's less hassle for us after that since we only need Cynara's hair.

We got them all in the end. Cynara and I were ready to go to the ball. The skins, clothes, shoes, accessories and hair really compliments one another. If I didn't have the opportunity to earn free lindens, we would not be able to get ourselves a decent costume in the first place.

Make lindens in Second Life. Linden dollars for free week 2!

It?s now the Second week since I started this goal of earning free linden dollars in Second Life.

So for the earnings report.

This week, Cynara and I bought a lot of clothes since I?m earning a regular 600L$ to 1200L$ per day. One of the most expensives are the clothes from ?Casa Del Shai?. I bought 3 sets of clothes and Cynara bought one very expensive Filipiniana costume there. (Of course, I pay for Cynara?s expenses she?s my girlfriend and I?m the one earning free lindens like there?s no tomorrow.)

The clothes from Casa Del Shai is worth 2,600L$ linden dollars all in all. These are ?The Adulterer?, ?Poco?, ?Mandarin Collar Barong? and the ?Mestiza? for Cynara.

However, that?s not the only stuff we bought this week. If I have good clothes, I still need good quality shoes! So we bought shoes from ?Shiny Things?. One black leather shoes, two casual shoes for men and one very good looking heels for my darling. So all in all, the shoes cost us 1,200L$ lindens.

But do not think I just earned 3,800L$ linden dollars for free for I still bought a lovescene ball from Bits and Bob worth 450L$, an armor from DE Designs worth 500L$, a set of boots to match the armor worth 250L$ and paid the weekly rental for our house worth 250L$ a week.

Now that?s a total of 5,250L$ LINDEN DOLLARS! and all of them I got for free!

BUT WAIT! THERE?S MORE!

On July 14, Cynara and I will have to attend a masquerade ball. In order for us to look appropriate, beautiful and handsome aristocrats for the ball, we have to get ourselves some nice hair, gown, boots, shoes, fan, cane and most of all, MASKS.

Cynara bought for her Masquerade costume:

Mask from illusions - (I wont add the price for the mask to the total earnings since she got it from working for an hour in SL - 100L$)

Therefore, our masquerade costumes are worth 1,525L$. That?s a total of 6,775L$ now. However, we bought new hair as well just for an extra. So that?s another 500L$ (male hair from naughty designs 300L$ and female hair 200L$ from ETD designs)

A whopping 7,275L$ expenditure for 1 week! LOL We?ve become shoppaholics because of earning free lindens! Although, I almost forgot to say? Last week, my ginkofinancial money is only 10,600L$ but now, it?s 13,518L$! So I still save 2900L$ linden dollars that I got for free!

That?s a total of 10,175L$ earning for the second week and for the whole 2 weeks since I started this Earn Free Lindens goal.. I?ve earned a total of 20,775L$ for just 2 weeks and all of them for FREE! (that is if we have not spent them to clothes and other stuff)
