I haven't done this for quite a while but I think, how much I earn or make money in Second Life is important to some. (especially for those who wants to earn as much as I do :) ) So here's how the month of making money and earning free lindens went for me.

It's almost the end of September and a lot of ways to make money in Second Life. That's not just through networks, surveys, affiliate programs and businesses in-world but also through the web. One way of course, is through Chino Yray dot com.

I assume Artesia B is Japanese for almost everything in her blog is about Kimonos (well almost) and everything Japanese. It's really nice to see another Asian (assuming she's asian) doing good in Second Life through blogging. I am not really interested to Kimonos but my wife will definitely check Artesia B's blog from time to time because of that.

Going back in time

When I first started my Second Life, I was a Victorian. Cynara and I always visit Caledon especially when buying Victorian Clothes. Also, Cynara works as a model for a Victorian Shop back then. Now this man, Dr. Rafael Fabre is one hell of a roleplayer and knows a lot through Steampunk era. Almost every post he have in his blog is about the period. (no off-topic posts at least) What impresses me most is his research skills (unless that is a fictional character) in terms of finding people who lived in the Victorian Period.

I also think that this interesting blog about Antiquity is from Dr. Rafael Fabre as well. So check them out.

One hell of a Machinima maker

I think I can still continue our machinima music video. Especially after seeing this blog of CodeBastard Redgrave. Her machinimas are great and most of the time featured in the SL Insider. She created a nice and user-friendly MachinimaCam to make your shooting a lot easier. So if you're interested in making Machinimas just like I do, subscribe to her blog as well.

General SL Blog?

I really don't know what's the focus of this blog, Second Life Snippets. But they surely got my attention with this kind of Advertising (as they say) although I think of it as an attack. Another post that caught my attention is about SL's Support. It feels good whenever people appreciate you with what you do. Why do I fell that way? I've been part of Level-Up games, an online game publisher here in our country, for 2 years and it's a rare occasion that you'll hear or read from someone that they appreciate what you've done. Moving on...

I didn't know that!

This is not about that show from National Geographic Channel. It's about a blogger's community in SL. Yes! I've been encouraging people to blog about Second Life as a way for them to earn linden dollars and make money and finally, a blogger's network for SL. Well, they don't have their own domain yet and still hosted at Google Groups but most of all, I love it when people of the same interest will have a connection in some way. I didn't even know that they meet. So kudos!

Getting money automatically

It's very promising and they just deliver on what they did announce. Slam-X withdrawals of the free lindens we get from them are now automatic. I experienced this first hand because for this week, they just gave me 700L$ in 2 different automatic cash out.

My total Slam-X earning as of today is 4,289L$ which is basically from their affiliate program and the free lindens they give everytime you make an activity on their site. 4,289L$ may not be as big as what I get from First Opinions' affiliate program and Earn2Life's but with Slam-X still in pre-launch and is yet to be officially launch, they are quite promising.

Two paid surveys in one day

It's amazing to see competing research panels release a survey on the same day. When I open up my email today, First Opinions and Market Truths have a survey for us. 500L$ flat pay for Market Truths and 100L$ to 1000L$ for First Opinions Panel.

Then another email came, it's from Earn2Life. Saying that even in Second Life is in maintenance, you can still earn money from them.

There is no luck, just pure effort

This is what I realized when I decided to just give the weekly 500L$ to the top most commentator. This is also what I've learn on the way of blogging about free linden dollars and making money online from Second Life.

Slam-X reopens with a light version

They're back and still giving away an instant 50L$ linden dollars when you join. Plus to that, they give you another 50L$ lindens fro every individual you refer to them.

Last week they announced that they will update SLAM-X which will then enables automatic withdrawals and some features that needs to be polished. Today, the re-opened in light version and I think the automatic weekly withdrawal will attract more people to go Slam with them.

Withdraw weekly even if you don't want to withdraw

As announced also by Slam-X, withdrawals are now automatic. So you don't need to ask for a withdrawal since your money will go automatically now to your Second Life account.

When you qualify for each individual level – Standard – Bronze – Silver – Gold - Platinum – Then you will be automatically paid each week based on amounts held in your accounts, and whatever pay level you qualify for.

EXAMPLE:
You have lets say L$250 in your account that you earned from posting, referring others, or some other form of in-world activity. The fact that you are actively contributing, then you would be paid L$100 per week automatically paid to your in-world account, provided you had the L$100 in there each week.
If you had say L$6200 in your account, this would place you at Bronze level, and provided you remained active – which would keep those balances going up, then you would receive L$1000 per week paid in-world.
And so on – through the various stages.

Detect avatars near you

It may sound freaky and scary for those who want a private Second Life but it's not scary at all. Well, if you don't use it for spying. However, you can also use this tool I am going to write for detecting if someone's spying on you. (or just near you)

Know who's near you with the Mystitool



If you're a paranoid individual like me because you know that anyone can just pan their camera and see what you're doing inside your house (especially if you're with a partner... LOL) then definitely you will need the Mystitool. As you can see in the picture above, it detects every avatar within my 96m radius. Yes, it's radius so it is a maximum of 192m perimeter.

It's also good when you are shopping with someone and you are waiting for the whole screen to rez. How, you know where your company is, if he/she is beside you already or somewhere else.

Also a flight assist, and those stuff you might need



At a price of 350L$ linden dollars, this is the cheapest menu driven flight assist (enables you to fly faster or slower than normal and go beyond 200m above the sky), detection tool, and almost all those features you might need. Not to mention, it has voice commands. You can command the Mystitool through voice. Cool huh?

How to earn linden dollars in Second Life

It's true that linden dollars are hard to find in SL especially when you don't know where to find it. Here, I'll tell you where and how you can earn linden dollars and make money in Second Life.

Most common way is to get a job

This is the sure way of getting a stable flow of linden dollars to your hand. The Classifieds of SL's search will be your friend here and the popular SL Job openings found at SLProfiles.com. Most pays at least 100L$ per hour and some even bigger than that. However, it will definitely take and consume your time. This is also the best way to meet people anyway so if you're not the exploring type, this will be good enough.

Camping and Camp spots

It is not the fastest way to earn big cash in Second Life but it is the most common way to earn linden dollars for free. Camping is where you go to a place where there will be chairs, dance pads or anything that gives lindens when you stay there. Most are 2L$ per 10 minutes but if you're lucky enough to find those 10L$ per 20 minutes or even high paying Camp spots, good for you. Sex sells even in the virtual world

By far the easiest way to earn huge linden dollars in an hour is to be an escort. I really don't recommend this but even in the virtual world of Second Life, sex sells. There are tons of freebie skins and female shapes out there comparing to men's this is because most creates a female avatar to get some quick cash. There are also lots of orgy and sex sim in Second Life where you can show your sexy female avatar to horny men. The weird thing is, we're all aware that even real-life men pretend to be women in SL since escort services really pays high ranging from 1000L$ per 30 minutes.

Free linden networks, survey and affiliate programs

This is the part where I make money and by far the most effective way for me. My August 2007 earning hits 51,000L$ (even bigger than Iris Ophelia's earnings per month) is consisted of First Opinions' referral and Earn2Life's referral system. SlamX, even if they're just starting, their referral system also pays good. I already earned 3,000L$ from SlamX's referral system for one week. They are promising and the best thing, they listen to comments and suggestions. These networks also serves as survey and offer networks so there are plenty of ways to make big money from them. I would want to say "try HippiePay" but HippiePay's survey, like MyLindens and Money Egg are almost typically the same and doesn't pay good for international or non-US SL residents. Affiliate sales are also promising, but they are more of a business.

Putting up a business is risky but when successful, lovely

We all know that businesses are risky but they are sure the best way to get rich. Second Life's economy is going nowhere but up! Having 9 million residents as of August 2007 and millions of $ US dollars spent everyday, (yes US dollars!) SL is one way to make an online business and making money online. Here's a tip though, be sure to hit this 3 successful business industry, fashion, building / scripting and Real Estate.

Making free lindens through blogging

If you are really serious about earning free linden dollars and don't know where to start, or doesn't have a capital to start a business, start from something free.

I am now rich in Second Life because I blog about free linden dollars. First reason is, I started with 0L$ linden capital. Second reason is I am really blogging before but I suck at it. So I thought having a focus or main reason as to why I blog will be a good thing for me.

Branding your blog

You don't just name your blog something out of the blue for no reason at all. Why? If you want to get people to visit your blog, you should think of a good name or tag line that people search for. One better way to name your blog is to use your name. For common reasons, it gives identity and uniqueness however, if you brand your blog your name you should tag it with what you blog.

Example: chinoyray.com is titled "Chino Yray dot Com - earn free lindens and make money in Second Life"

The title is obviously my name, this is because I want to be popular! lol. Now for the tagline or description "earn free lindens and make money in Second Life" this line gives idea to web directories or search engines that my blog is about earning free lindens and making money from Second Life.

Give your blog a good brand and make sure it describes or give a perception of what your blog is all about.

Using affiliate programs, networks and services

Now you have a blog and a brand, you better should know how to make money from it or if you use Second Life just like me, make sure you know where you can earn free lindens and make use of a blog on how to do affiliate marketing. The PDF that makes me earn a lot of free lindens gets a makeover

There's no doubt that a huge chunk of my August 2007 earnings of a total 51,100L$ or 203$ US dollars is from First Opinions Panel. Almost 60% of that earnings is from FOP and it's not because of the survey they give every month that pays 500L$ minimum up to 12,000L$ (IBM Virtual Business Center survey) depending on what company is the survey for.

So I realized, that the Terms & Conditions of FOP should have a makeover to become more fitting for Chino Yray dot Com. I only changed the layout and design. The content, FAQ, Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy remains unchanged.

Blue and simplistic

Functionality is the most important in a good design. Designs should not just be beautiful, it should have a function. The simplistic makeover is for the eyes. Yes, applying what I learned from my design school so that even the lazy readers will still notice the words and information in the PDF.

Better referral pay

Another reason why I made this re-design of the Terms  & Conditions of First Opinions is to make sure everyone who clicks it gets to read the vital instructions. Like the most common mistake of not giving their full Second Life name. Remember that how can FOP give you your payment if you don't put your complete avatar name in the sign-up form.

A group in SL about Free Lindens is not effective

Do you ever wonder why after almost 4 months of this site's establishment as an Earn Free Lindens site, I still don't have a group in Second Life about this? Well it's because I based this on the perception and psychological factor that most people do not read notices and just skim on them. Okay, I know that sounds deep for some but to make it simple, it's just that people in the internet are more lazy than when they are living in the real life out there.

No Earn Free Lindens or Chino Yray dot Com group

Creating a group only costs 100L$, I own a group but I prefer the group I own private and only for the purpose of customizing the tag in my head. If I sell stuff or sell my services, I would definitely have a group for this site but I don't sell anything. I don't own a business in Second Life so I think I don't need a group yet.

Hundreds of "Earn Free Lindens" and "Make Money" groups in-world

I already searched in-world about the groups and actually joined some by using dummy accounts (newly made accounts) to try if I can really earn free lindens by joining their groups. Unfortunately, SL's search and Google.com is enough. This groups doesn't even update on a regular frequency and there are groups that even rips off some lindens from your pocket. So instead of making a group for my users, you can just check your emails or subscribe via RSS feed to receive updates everytime I have a new post at Chino Yray dot Com.

I earn more from blogging than a SL-group

Let's face the fact, I want to earn linden dollars (LOL) and I don't have to charge my readers 10L$ to join a group or ask for some lindens from anyone just to make money. I bought a new Intel Core 2 Duo PC with 2 Gig RAM last week from my earnings from the ReviewMe reviews and Google Adsense (
).

That is even exclusive of the August 2007 earnings.

Earn Free Linden Dollars - Do it now!

Everyday, hundreds of Second Life residents visits my free linden list and I do hope I help in some way to make you earn. However, I noticed something. Some people skip the other opportunities listed there. Of course, there's no advantage there but only not taking of the advantage you will get.

Set a goal

Not setting a goal means no direction. No direction will mean, you just do whatever you want and be lazy on the others. This is what separates those who got rich in SL and those who did not even make it to earning 500L$ a week. Set a direction on what you want to do. What do you want to achieve in SL?

I first started with only wanting to buy my partner the stuff she wants so she doesn't have to work for 100L$ an hour. Now, because of that goal of freeing Cynara from her job just to get lindens, I moved to higher goals. What is your goal?

A goal without a time limit is no goal

So you have a goal already, now you have to make sure when will you get it or achieve that goal. You want to earn 1000L$ per day but you don't know when will you get there.

If you wish to achieve anything in life, place a time limit on it. A time limit will pressure you and push you to make an action.

Not knowing where to start

I myself admit this, it's hard to know when and where to start. If it's not for that goal of making Cynara Cortes not attend her job so we can spend more time together and yet still earn lindens, I won't be in this place where I earn at least 11,000 linden dollars weekly and 200$ monthly. I started with that goal and a free blog from wordpress which can be found here. That is where I started. I hope you find a good way to start or if you already began, continue on doing it.

Welfare Island is the new HippiePay

I was looking for a new way to earn free linden dollars earlier and I stumbled on this Popular Places item namely, Welfare Island. I went to the place and when I got there, only one thing came into my mind... it's a new HippiePay (think of HippiePay having a new name)

Everything is so similar from the offers, to how the page and survey list has been placed on the site. Even the navigation and the content are pretty similar. Actually, their offers are the same.

So my question is that aren't the 2 websites and service owned by the same company? We all know that HippiePay's reputation is not that good for those who tried it already. I myself did not earn more than 100L$ from HippiePay since almost every offer they have are for US residents only. But of course, if you are from the US of A, then you'll definitely earn thousands of linden dollars from them.

So for those who live outside of the US, I think all those services I used to make as much free linden dollars to keep this site and maintain my expenses will do. For those free linden dollars for everyone in the world, just check out my recommendation here at the free linden page.

Back in 1997, Square Co. (now Square Enix) introduced to the world a new adventure of great summons, magic in the form of materia, Genova, Cloud and Sephiroth. Now after 10 years of Final Fantasy 7 we can now play and be part of Gaia along the high technology country of Midgar in the life beyond reality, Second Life.

Role-playing and Midgar

If you're new to the idea of Role-playing or RPing, Midgar helps you as well to find your place in this sim. Once getting there, they will automatically give you the rules, regulations, what to do and what not to do and will offer tools for your Role-playing needs including a free RPTool and free stuff to get you started.

I myself have been playing in Midgar some months ago being a Shin-Ra cadet and a Midgar citizen. I got a free standard issue Titan Industries gun for joining Shin-Ra. Shin-Ra give weapons to their new members I just don't know about the other groups like A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. and the others. However, I already left Shin-Ra and Midgar some months ago because of player attitudes and the domination of furries. (Not being a furry racist but the world of Final Fantasy is not dominated by furries in their canon) I visited Midgar and found a lot of new stuff today.

The system - FFRC for your HP, MP and materia

The FFRC is a must and a requirement if you want to RP in Midgar. It's the blood of roleplaying there since it is your HP, MP and Materia slots.

What you see is the new FFRC for the gunner type. I'm more into guns than being a fighter with swords and caster with staff. Although, if you prefer more materia slots, you should get the caster FFRC and Fighter FFRC if you want more HP.

SlamX pre-launch being questioned

A new bank namely SlamX is currently in its beta or pre-launch stage but after a review from here I think they will now focus on the in-world activity or what I call... transferring the money to your Second Life Avatar which I think is the most important part of a bank's operation.

One of their moderators emailed me and I can say they are serious on providing service and serious on their business, they're also fresh from an update today to solve issues on browsers like Firefox and added some pages to clarify some questionable things.

Getting paid by SlamX

Here are some of the ways you can make free linden from SlamX.

• L$50 automatically paid to your SLAM X account for joining.
• L$50 automatically paid for each referral. Personal referral codes, and account balances can be found in your profile.
• Employment: SLAMX.net and ADC employment positions are regularly available. When positions become available they will be posted in their forums.
• Competitions: There are almost always competitions that are being held on the ADC allowing participants to earn or win free Lindens In-World.

SL Capital Exchange - bringing the quality of stocks exchange and banking industry back

We can't deny that one way of earning more linden dollars is to invest on businesses in Second Life especially when you are not able to build your own business. SL Capital Exchange is not new in the stocks exchange industry since it was formerly known as AVIX. However, this time, with JTFinancial's banking sytem merged to AVIX to become SLCAPEX (SL Capital Exchange), they have to be good enough to bring back the trust of residents to the banking and stock exchange industry. So now comes another ReviewMe review after just getting one from a bank.

 

Virtual Stock exchange can make you linden dollars

Buying and selling stocks is where the game is. You make more lindens when you buy a share and sell it to a higher price. I myself doesn't have any idea how a stock exchange work 4 months ago, but in the process, since it's very easy to learn, spending some time on the trades will definitely makes the system more familiar and easy to use.

The graphs and numbers may look overwhelming especially if it's your first time to see one, but these numbers and graphs are your friends for having a successful trade to make more linden dollars instead of losing.

One thing I noticed as well in SLCAPEX is that they only have few companies listed on the trading room unlike WSE (World Stock Exchange). This is because SLCAPEX REALLY review those who wants to use their system before putting them in the IPO wherein some "companies" listed doesn't really exist in-world. In short, some companies listed back then are FAKE. The few companies listed in SLCAPEX is a good sign for me that they do really research on the companies first before people can invest from them. 

The banking industry is still alive!

In the past, we've seen some banks fail for having such high interest rates on cash balances, ranging from 0.1% to 0.2%. Now, SL Capex also hits the spot of high interest rates but since they are backed up by a well known stock exchange system, I cannot say if they are too good to be true.

SLCAPEX's current interest rate is at 0.12% daily.

How can they afford such high interest?

According to their FAQ...

The interest rate we pay is determined based on the returns of our investments, and the rate of deposits isn't how the interest rate is financed.
The radical growth in SL makes the interest rate possible.
We have the interest rate set based on the success of our investments, and constantly monitor our accounting to determine what we can afford to pay.
Eventually growth will saturate and we'll have to lower the interest rate to match market conditions.
People are buying SL property and products at a fantastic rate, and the growth is simply amazing. This growth is what makes our high, daily compounded interest rate possible. We recognize that radical growth can't last forever, but we are doing the prudent thing: facilitating and riding that growth while monitoring our business carefully.

I do agree with the radical growth of SL but still, with the past events on the banking industry, a high interest rate can be very doubtful.

Free Linden by First Opinions Panel, why some members doesn't get survey from them

I've been asked by some people already why they don't get or receive email from First Opinions Panel (SLURL)while others get twice monthly or receives the higher paying surveys (e.g. IBM Virtual Business Center Survey that gave 1500L$ and 12,000L$ for the interview.)

Real life location is a factor

This is the very main reason I think why some doesn't get surveys from FOP in a regular basis. FOP releases survey based on the real-life company's target market. If you are living in Asia but let's say American Airlines ordered the survey, of course, the survey will be given to those who ONLY live in the US or those covered by American Airlines.

Answer the survey seriously

First Opinions gives you a survey for the first time, however, you are too lazy to answer it and you'll get 500L$ to 1500L$ free linden anyway even if you answer it hastily and without really reading it... My friend, if you did that or plan to do that, FOP might not add you to their list anymore for the next survey. Real life companies pay big cash to get valuable opinions from Second Life residents, so make sure that your answers is worth the free linden dollars they will give you.

First Opinions Panel is a serious Market Research company. They've been doing surveys in real life even before Second Life existed. If you plan to get more than 500L$ to 1500L$ from them, make sure you take them seriously.

Professional Photography by Netrosanct Studios

Because of my busy life (both Second and first), I don't have time to take photos of Cynara or myself for our own vanity purposes. :D So instead of practicing my real life photography skills in Second Life, we went to a studio so that they do the job of taking photos for us. Netrosanct Studios took the job and instead of me paying them, they even paid me to do this review.



They only make good photos not miracles

The first thing I noticed in their studio is the words... "We take beautiful pics... but we can't do miracles!" Honestly, that line is kind of hilarious and makes sense. Beauty may be subjective and based on personal opinion, however, there are times that even if the Photographer is very skilled and good at his/her craft, if the subject is way far behind "that" line, even the world's best photographer can't do anything about it. I for one had a shoot before, but because for some reason only them can explain, even how many time I photoshop the photos, I can't make them beautiful unless they improve their shapes.

It's not just about good angles

Many have tried, but only a few succeeded. As a photographer myself, even if the angle looks good, if the lightings, shadows and composition do not compliment with each other, you cannot make a good shot. Netrosanct Studios use the popular N30 Photo Studio and the Snaps are then processed through Photoshop by himself, Arj Friedkin, owner of Netrosanct Studios. Photoshop is very essential in making good pictures for you Second Life. The default snaps really doesn't satisfy the artistic eye or if you want to look artistic in some way. By this, Netrosanct guarantees that you deserve the best photos for your SL.

They give 50L$ when you sign-up but are they for real?

The banking industry of Second Life has been shaky because of what happened to Ginko. Others attempt to be different and some new banks think of new ways to attract new depositors. I think SlamX really wants to be different in attracting depositors for they got a sponsored review.

Still very new

The hardest thing to get new depositors for a bank is when they are still very new. SlamX is new to the industry. The are still in Pre-launching which was announced just a week ago. However, they offer to give advices and are ready to answer questions through their forums. (sign-up first before posting some questions away.)

The bait

SlamX is currently giving free 50L$ when you sign-up. This is what makes them sound too good to be true. Another is, they offer a referral system, where they give you another 50L$ linden dollars for every individual you invite to SlamX. A lot will bite the 50L$ free for signing up but is there a catch? There's a confusing membership levels. You can only withdraw a limited amount of money per week depending on what level of membership you have. Sign-up and get free 50L$ here.

What makes it confusing is, this memberships are not easily accessible from their site but luckily I found them here.

Membership levels

In order to increase your withdrawal limit, you should have a minimum amount of deposit per level. The levels are bronze, silver, gold and platinum. There are also different privileges and offers that you can get once you reach a certain level of membership. I myself don't like this membership levels but this is one way of securing that they have enough money to liquidate the withdrawals made.  The details on the membership levels and how to get them is on this page.

Withdrawals are given manually

I still haven't experience making a withdrawal from them (the 50L$ they gave me for signing up) but it seems they will process them manually. I don't advise this. The manual processing is a turn off. The withdrawal limits are already imposed then you will still have to wait for them to process a withdrawal. They may be excused for being new in the industry but there are no excuses if other people's money is involved. SlamX should have automated the process already. If they are serious on their banking business, they should improve their system soon.
